Yarra Yering Wines

Yarra Yering is one of the true treasures of Australian wine and one of the wineries that began the rebirth of the Yarra Valley, under the guidance of Dr Bailey Carrodus back in 1969. In 1969 after a long search for the perfect site, Carrodus planted 12 hectares of vines at the foot of the Warramate Hills. He named his vineyard Yarra Yering and in 1973 produced the first vintage of Dry Red Wine No’s 1 & 2. The wines were and continue to be made in the Carrodus built winery, with purpose built equipment; small batch fermentation and hand pressing in small basket presses.

Yarra Yering quickly gained an international reputation for quality and individuality and paved the way for other Yarra Valley wineries. Frequently named among Australia's leading wineries, Yarra Yering’s proud tradition is being continued to great acclaim by current winemaker Sarah Crowe. Sarah, James Halliday’s 2017 Winemaker of the Year, focuses on giving individual blocks and varieties the time and attention they deserve to continue making high-quality wine.

Dry Red No 1 is Yarra Yering's Cabernet blend, or as the winery describes it, "a classic claret-style". The is always an incredibly elegant, medium-bodied wine that has an underlying concentration and intensity that really develops with time in the bottle.

Yarra Yering Dry Red No 2 is their Shiraz-based blend, with inspiration drawn from the reds of France's Rhone Valley. This consistently delivers a beautifully perfumed and rich wine, the shiraz is co-fermented with tiny volumes of viognier and marsanne for vibrancy. The result is an incredibly vibrant, seductive and wonderfully complex wine.
