Scotchmans Hill was established in 1982 atop Mount Bellarine, an extinct volcano that forms the tip of the peninsula. The land on which the vineyard was planted had been given its name by a group of Scottish immigrants who settled in the area in 1885.
Today the winery is a modern facility featuring an 8000 cubic metre temperature controlled barrel hall that houses up to 1000 barrels. The winemaking equipment ranges from modern and progressive through to traditional, with the ultimate aim being to produce outstanding quality and highly individualistic wines
Scotchmans Hill have long been regarded as one of Victoria's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir makers, while their Shiraz also regularly receiving high praise, with its depth of flavour, complexity and impeccable structure.
This is a rich and full flavoured Shiraz delivering complex savoury characters. Dark fruits and red plum flavours, spice and licorice with a touch of briar and a charry oak finish. The wine is supported by firm acid and fine grained tannins which give it length, balance and structure. This elegant wine will cellar well over the next 5 to 8 years.- Scotchmans Hill.
