Watershed Senses Chardonnay 2016

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    13%

Watershed Wines of Margaret River continues to build its reputation as a premium wine producer. The 2016 Watershed 'Senses' Chardonnay is the first Chardonnay release under the 'Senses' range, which has proved incredibly popular over the past few months.

A single vineyard Chardonnay made from selected grapes from Watershed's estate vineyard, these are barrel fermented in new and seasoned French oak barriques to deliver an intensely flavoured and complex wine. Plenty of lifted citrus, stone fruit and subtle nutty aromas lead into a well-weighted palate that is creamy, textured and offers lingering crisp finish.

With a RRP of $30, last stocks of this high quality Margaret River Chardonnay are likely to go quickly at this ripping price.

"96 Points. Small batch-fermented in French oak (18.5% new) on lees for 7 months with light battonage. The combination of high quality cool grown grapes and sensitive winemaking has produced this lovely chardonnay, the first release of a chardonnay in the Senses range. Delicacy teams with intensity (an oxymoron if ever there was one), grapefruit, white peach and nectarine the drivers, not the oak. Drink by: 2029 Price: $30.00 Alcohol: 13%" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2018.

"A lighter-bodied chardonnay that sits below the Awakening. Yet this is very good. Minerally with a creamy texture showing some subtle cashew character. Vibrant and alive on the palate with the clever use of oak as a feature. 92/100 Cellar: 5 Years" - Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2018.
