Voyager's oldest vines date back to 1978, just over 10 years after vines were first planted in the area. When current owner, Michael Wright, took over the property in 1991, he set out to expand it and develop a visitor destination that would be a showcase for the region. He also set out to ensure that, above all else, the quality of wine being made at Voyager Estate would always be the best that nature, expertise and pure hard work could provide.
Six blocks make up this blend, the core being from grapefruit intense Gingin clone. Fruit was pressed, settled overnight then fermented in stainless steel or French oak prior to 9 months maturation in oak barrels with monthly stirring. Parcels were then blended and remained on light lees until fining, filtration and bottling in January 2019.
The wine was crafted with Estate grown grapes to create a fruit-driven, early drinking style of Chardonnay, which reflects the purity of fruit from our pristine coastal vineyards. The restrained use of French oak and wild yeast fermentation adds subtle complexity and texture to the palate, which finishes with a clean mineral edge.- Voyager Estate Wines
