Turkey Flat Rose 2020

Barossa Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    12.5%
Turkey Flat has been one of the drivers of the great Rosé revival and this is undoubtedly one of the most popular Rosé's produced in Australia each year. The 2020 Turkey Flat Rosé is the 27th vintage made by the team at Turkey Flat.

Produced from high quality Grenache grapes grown in the Barossa, the 2020 release is a beautifully fragrant wine with rose petal and spice aromas followed by juicy strawberry fruit flavours that linger on the palate. Another benchmark example of Rosé that will deliver plenty of enjoyment anytime of the year.

"94 Points. Mark Bulman is a dead set genius when it comes to making rosé. I bought a case of this last year, and I’ll be doing the same this vintage. I drink more rosé than any other wine style. A bit of smoky cap gun over white cherry, fresh strawberry, white pepper and aniseed. It’s pure and fresh, so bright and energetic, but not at all tangy or abrasive, fine chalky texture, and a very long cool finish. Flat out delicious. You could drink gallons of it, and I most likely will. Tasted: Jun20 12.5% alc. $24 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2027" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

Turkey Flat owns five vineyards spread over a radius of 20km from Bethany in the south, Ebenezer in the north, Stonewell in the west, with other vineyards in the east. They cover four very different sub-regions and give them the ability to blend the attributes of each subregion into their wines.

Turkey Flat firmly believe winemaking begins in the vineyard, as a result they spend a great deal of time managing vine vigour, controlling shoot growth as well as shoot and bunch thinning. This helps to reduce yields and open up the vines to let in the sunlight.

Turkey Flat are not industrial winemakers and try at all times to keep the winemaking process simple and traditional, to not interfere with the true expression of the vineyard.

This is the 27th release of the Turkey Flat Rosé. This wine was first made during a time when Rosé was an anathema in a region becoming world-renowned for big, bold Shiraz. Turkey Flat created a style crafted with clear purpose to shift perceptions, demonstrating that Australian Rosé can be a fine wine and that the Barossa is well-placed to be its source. With nearly thirty years of refinement in technique, our style has become archetypal of Australian Rosé, with fresh, aromatic fruit, florals and spice on the nose, satisfying body and texture on the palate, and a clean, savoury-shift on the finish. Grenache is the star of this wine and is picked in multiple parcels across the vintage to provide the components for a wine that is a masterclass in blending.

Tangerine and fresh berries on the nose, with a trace of powdery talc and white blossom. The palate starts with red berry fruit with a backbone of cool spice reminiscent of caraway seed. The finish has a deft textural grip and a sensation of lime. The 2020 release will stand up to a great breadth of food styles and has a versatility that ensures it will be enjoyed in any season.
