Turkey Flat Rose 2019

Barossa Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    12.5%
Turkey Flat has been one of the drivers of the great Rosé revival and this is undoubtedly one of the most popular Rosé's produced in Australia each year. The 2019 Turkey Flat Rosé is the 26th vintage made by the team at Turkey Flat.

Produced from high quality Grenache grapes grown in the Barossa, the 2019 release is a beautifully fragrant wine with rose petal and spice aromas followed by juicy strawberry fruit flavours that linger on the palate. Another benchmark example of Rosé that will deliver plenty of enjoyment over the warmer months.

"94 Points. Once upon a time, I recall this wine having something of a lurid hot pink colour, now it’s all pale and cool. Anyway, bought a bottle from a shop the other day (it does happen) and really liked it. Now I have an official sample. I still really like it. Lovely perfume with a bit of funk and spice, quiet red fruit and white peach, soft but sure crisp acidity, gentle chalky and flinty texture, a little savoury and earthy on the finish, and very long and composed. Just so spot on. Tasted: Oct19. 12.5% alc. $22 Screwcap Drink: 2019 - 2023"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

"Beautiful rosé. It’s a more serious, lighter, aromatic dry style. The grenache is such a beautiful variety. One or 2 per cent of skin contacted white varieties have been included. Has a little bit of palate-cleaning tannins, with a dry, savoury finish. Has that little bit of grip on the finish, which is all about making it such a good food wine. 93/100. Best drinking: Now to 2023" - Ray Jordan, The West Australian, September 8 2019.

Turkey Flat owns five vineyards spread over a radius of 20km from Bethany in the south, Ebenezer in the north, Stonewell in the west, with other vineyards in the east. They cover four very different sub-regions and give them the ability to blend the attributes of each subregion into their wines.

Turkey Flat firmly believe winemaking begins in the vineyard, as a result they spend a great deal of time managing vine vigour, controlling shoot growth as well as shoot and bunch thinning. This helps to reduce yields and open up the vines to let in the sunlight.

Turkey Flat are not industrial winemakers and try at all times to keep the winemaking process simple and traditional, to not interfere with the true expression of the vineyard.

VINTAGE 2019: The 2019 growing season was long, hot and dry leading to a slightly early, low yielding vintage. The wines from the 2019 vintage are fruit rich, well coloured and of substance. The vintage will be remembered for producing wines that reflect the generosity for which has made the Barossa famous.

TASTING NOTES: Super-fragrant and deliciously vinous, with rose petal and spice aromas followed by juicy strawberry fruit flavours that linger on the palate.

WINEMAKING: Bucking the notion that Rosé is an afterthought, this wine has a special place in our hearts & is crafted with a clear purpose. The Grenache is sourced from specific sites achieving perfect yields promoting prominent primary fruit while retaining appealing palate cleansing crispness. We create the lifted palate with bright, youthful and rosey-cheeked Grenache to play the starring role.
