Torzi Matthews is a food and winemaking partnership between Domenic Torzi and Tracy Matthews. While Torzi Matthews are well-known for their high quality Shiraz, they've shown themselves equally capable of producing some high quality Eden Valley Riesling.

This 2019 Torzi Matthew Frost Dodger Riesling has heaps of zesty, citrus and white stone fruits aromatic, while the palate sears with vibrancy, texture and weight, finishing crisp, dry and long. A top flight example of Eden Valley Riesling with a long future ahead of it - although it's pretty irresistible now.

"95 Points. Must be the first Riesling from 2019 I’ve tasted. This comes from old vines with an age range of 49 to 89 years of age. It’s one of the most distinctive wines to come out of the Eden Valley. Personality packed and loaded with texture and interest. Lemon barley, lemongrass, green apple, white flowers, spice. It’s dry, very flinty and chalky, almost umami in flavour with a chicken broth savoury element along with green herbs, cool acidity, and a long talc powder finish. Great stuff. Proprietors Domenic Torzi and Tracey Matthews are full of passion and the firm conviction of appreciating the value of heritage tradition in the crafting of their wines and extra virgin olive oils.

Torzi Matthews produce two examples of Shiraz from their Mt McKenzie vineyard; Schist Rock and their flagship Frost Dodger Shiraz. Torzi Matthews also produce a 'Frost Dodger' Riesling along with a selection of Italian varietals under his 'Vigna Cantina' range.

Vintage: Very dry winter and spring with wide frosts event produced the lowest crop load in 10 years. The old vine sites showed a healthy canopy to protect the small intense crop making this 2019 riesling of great cellaring potential with intense fruit, texture and structure.

Wine Making: Hand picked whole bunch pressed and free run only. Natural cold settling for 12 days then racked with little solids remaining for wild yeast ferment at low temperature for 6 weeks continuing with lees aging for 8 weeks for added texture, weight and complexity. Expect high tone aromatics of white stone fruits, white flowers & lime. The real star is the palate which reveals all of the aromatics but sears with texture, weight & persistence that finishes crisp, dry & long.
