Halliday Top 100 Wines 2019

Located in the heart of the Adelaide Hills, Sidewood is one of the largest vineyards in this acclaimed region stretching across the 300 acre Estate. The wines are made at their state of the art winery by the highly acclaimed Darryl Catlin, who previously served as a winemaker at Shaw and Smith for 13 years.

The 2018 Sidewood Shiraz is a stunning example of the popular Adelaide Hills Shiraz; delivering a beautifully aromatic and approachable wine with impressive depth of flavour. The palate is packed with juicy blackberry, dark cherry and pomegranate flavours, with soft silky tannins and savoury notes providing some complexity and underlining the skilled winemaking here.

"96 Points. This is the complete package. Cold soak, wild yeast ferment with partial whole bunch, partial whole berry, matured in French oak (25% new) for 18 months. The result is a wine of great complexity to both texture and flavour, savoury black cherry, blackberry and forest notes. Skilled winemaking with 5-star success." - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

This elegant and complex Shiraz has lifted aromatics of raspberry, blueberry, dark plum and hints of vanilla spice. The front palate has an abundance of blackberry, dark-red fruits and notes of dark chocolate. Spice and white pepper notes are evident on the back palate. Tannins are rich and silky, the length is long and luxurious.
