Shaw and Smith has firmly established itself as one of Australia's leading Sauvignon Blanc makers. The 2017 Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc represents the 28th vintage of this wine, which is once again an exceptional Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc.

Offering lively and aromatic notes of passionfruit, nashi pear, and lime, the palate is typically intense with plenty of fresh limey fruit, restrained tropical fruit notes and mouthwatering acidity. The impressive purity and dry, balanced finish make this a standout example that is sure to be well-received by Shaw and Smith fans.

"96 Points. This is a dignified sauvignon blanc that continuously reveals itself as you move from the bouquet through to the aftertaste of the palate. Initially it has classic restraint, but by the time you pick up the sweet fruit (not sugar) you realise it's the product of a vintage designed for sauvignon blanc. Drink By: 2020. Price: $27.00 Date Tasted: 11 Sep 2017 Alcohol: 12%" - James Halliday,

"There’s little doubt this is one of the better releases of this ever-popular wine. It bursts with fruit, it’s clean and pure, it’s not without elegance and/or restraint and yet it gives people what they want. Ripe tropical fruit cut with grapefruit, lime and lemongrass. Life-of-the-party and well-mannered at once. Charmingly uncluttered. A delicious Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc if ever there was one. Rated: 93 Points Tasted: Oct17 Alcohol: 12% Price: $27 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2017 - 2019" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Adelaide Hills
Grapes/Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Vinification: Hand picked. Cool fermentation in stainless steel followed by a short maturation on lees. Prompt bottling to retain freshness.

Palate: Typically it shows a pink grapefruit character, concentration and mid-palate texture, which reflect the carefully selected sites and hand harvesting during the small window of perfect ripeness.

Food Matching: Barbecued prawns with avocado pico de gallo.

Vintage Notes: September’s start to the growing season was warmer than average leading to good canopy and fruit development. January rainfall provided relief from earlier warmer temperatures and was timely to aid fruit development through the ripening period, resulting in healthy fruit being harvested two weeks earlier than average.

Cellaring Potential: Best drunk within 18 months of bottling.
