The wine has full ripe tannins and firm acid giving the wine great structure.

"Expressive, complex and fragrant bouquet of violets, plums and strawberry fruits. There is a hint of sappiness with spice and cedar oak. The pallet is full and seductive with juicy ripe plum and cherry fruits. There is a savoury backbone with spice and earthy notes. The tannins although firm are fine grained giving great structure to the wine which will develop and age beautifully over the next 8 to 10 years." - Scotchmans Hill.

Scotchmans Hill was established in 1982 atop Mount Bellarine, an extinct volcano that forms the tip of the peninsula. The land on which the vineyard was planted had been given its name by a group of Scottish immigrants who settled in the area in 1885.

Today the winery is a modern facility featuring an 8000 cubic metre temperature controlled barrel hall that houses up to 1000 barrels. The winemaking equipment ranges from modern and progressive through to traditional, with the ultimate aim being to produce outstanding quality and highly individualistic wines

Scotchmans Hill have long been regarded as one of Victoria's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir makers, while their Shiraz also regularly receiving high praise, with its depth of flavour, complexity and impeccable structure.
