Review of the 2017 vintage included below;

"94 Points. A six-clone blend, whole-bunch pressed free-run juice direct to barrel, some solids returned, 12 months maturation in 1-4yo oak. A rich but controlled palate, with complex interplay between fruit acidity and grilled cashew, good length and balance. The '17 vintage sings loudly. $35.00 Alcohol: 13.5% Drink By: 2029 Screwcap" - James Halliday,

Scotchmans Hill was established in 1982 atop Mount Bellarine, an extinct volcano that forms the tip of the peninsula. The land on which the vineyard was planted had been given its name by a group of Scottish immigrants who settled in the area in 1885.

Today the winery is a modern facility featuring an 8000 cubic metre temperature controlled barrel hall that houses up to 1000 barrels. The winemaking equipment ranges from modern and progressive through to traditional, with the ultimate aim being to produce outstanding quality and highly individualistic wines

Scotchmans Hill have long been regarded as one of Victoria's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir makers, while their Shiraz also regularly receiving high praise, with its depth of flavour, complexity and impeccable structure.
Our 2018 Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay is focused yet elegant with layers of complexity. Grapefruit, melon and white peach fruits dominate with creamy mid-palate, bready texture and mineral backbone giving way to a nutty oak finish.

This wine has been made for the long haul and will reward cellaring over the next 4 to 6 years.
