Long regarded as one of Australia's premier cool-climate Chardonnay makers, the newly released 2016 Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay is probably the finest Chardonnay to date we've tasted from this producer.

This top class Bellarine Peninsula Chardonnay has a complex nose displaying stone fruit, melon and fig fruits with cashew nuts and creamy barrel ferment characters balanced by a spicy oak background. The palate is tight yet refined with juicy nectarine, melon and citrus fruit notes all on offer. A Chardonnay of impeccable structure and complexity, this will attract plenty of interest from Chardonnay lovers.

Scotchmans Hill was established in 1982 atop Mount Bellarine, an extinct volcano that forms the tip of the peninsula. The land on which the vineyard was planted had been given its name by a group of Scottish immigrants who settled in the area in 1885.

Today the winery is a modern facility featuring an 8000 cubic metre temperature controlled barrel hall that houses up to 1000 barrels. The winemaking equipment ranges from modern and progressive through to traditional, with the ultimate aim being to produce outstanding quality and highly individualistic wines

Scotchmans Hill have long been regarded as one of Victoria's finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir makers, while their Shiraz also regularly receiving high praise, with its depth of flavour, complexity and impeccable structure.
Our 2016 Scotchmans Hill Chardonnay is focused yet elegant with layers of complexity. Grapefruit, melon and white peach fruits dominate with creamy mid-palate, bready texture and mineral backbone giving way to a nutty oak finish.

This wine has been made for the long haul and will reward cellaring over the next 4 to 6 years.
