Riposte The Dagger Pinot Noir 2017

Adelaide Hills, South Australia   |    750ml   |    13.5%

"one of the best value pinots of the year" - Campbell Mattinson

Riposte 'The Dagger' Pinot Noir has established itself among Australia's best value examples of Pinot Noir. This is the personal label of Tim Knappstein who puts his considerable experience and talent to good use with the Adelaide Hill's best varietals. The 2017 Riposte The Dagger Pinot Noir is another vibrant, rich Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir with lashings of dark berry fruit, spice and soft, subtle tannin. Ready to be enjoyed now, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value Australian Pinot Noir on the market.

"94 Points. Full colour. The dagger has only just been drawn as at September '17, but will underwrite the development of a wine that has much to offer. It has considerable depth and complexity to its plum and dark cherry fruit. A foresty/ earthy subtext adds another dimension. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. To 2025. $20. Top Value."- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2019.

"This is a beauty. Textural, powerful, varietal and brilliant to drink. Dark cherries and plums, a tanginess, spice and peppercorn notes. It races about, delivering pleasure as it goes. Tannin is in emery board territory. Take the wine, the price, combine the two, and clearly this is right up there as one of the best value pinots of the year. Rated: 92 Points Tasted: Nov17 Alcohol: 13.5% Price: $22 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2017 - 2023" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

With 50 years experience and boundless enthusiasm for winemaking, Tim Knappstein has created Riposte with the specific vision of making exceptional wine from premium Adelaide Hills fruit at affordable prices. Riposte fruit is sourced from some of the oldest and best sited Adelaide Hills vineyards to produce a small range of complex and exciting wines.

Riposte, pronounced rip-posst, means ‘comeback, reply, retort’; a fencing term for a quick counter stroke. Using the fencing inference each wine has been given a sword name.

From Pinot Noir picked off choice vines at Charleston and Gumeracha on the Adelaide Hills. Riposte means a quick comeback, reply or retort, in the sport of fencing it is the term for a swift counter stroke. After more than a decade of confusion about the Tim Knappstein name and eponymous wineworks, Riposte was chosen as the appropriate moniker for Knappstein's comeback label. The Dagger has been honed to create a vibrant and rich, earlier drinking wine displaying all the hallmarks of luscious Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir.
