Pierro LTC Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

Pierro 'LTC' Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    13.5%
The name 'LTC' is so clearly etched in the history of Pierro and the Margaret River wine industry, that the front label now refers to it as merely as the LTC. It was once the 'Les Trois Cuvées' - for the three varieties found in the blend; Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay while others insist LTC refers to a 'little touch of chardonnay'. The 2016 Pierro LTC Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is another benchmark example of this famous Margaret River style, which is sure to please the many fans of this brilliant white wine.

"Good balance, refreshing feel, easy going texture with a touch of extra interest. There’s good intensity of green pea/grassy semillon and a counter punch of tropical fruity semillon. The palate has good energy, stacks of freshness, dry finish. There’s all the citrus and zestiness to acidity you could ask for. Kind of an old school Margaret River dry white kind of feel, in the best possible way. It’s got plenty of charisma. Rated: 92 Points Tasted: JAN17 Alcohol: 13.5% Price: $32 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2017 - 2021" - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.

Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc with just a Little Touch of Chardonnay

L.T.C., with a hint of her elegant mother, is a fresh and lively young lady from the Willyabrup Duchy. She dances lightly, melting hearts with her delightful approachability.

Dressed in a subtle blend of delicate fabrics - a light and floating skirt with a structured bodice, she is most often seen with a basket of fresh, zesty citrus fruits, herbs and wild flowers over one arm. A wonderful pre-dinner conversationalist or a superb companion with whom to enjoy fresh seafood.

50% Semillon

45% Sauvignon Blanc

5% Chardonnay

Handpicked, hand-sorted, gently whole-bunch pressed. 20% fermented and matured in new and one & two year-old French oak. 80% fermented and matured in stainless steel.

There’s been plenty of media attention paid to the quality and longevity of the PIERRO L.T.C. in the last couple of years – with James Halliday, Peter Bourne & John Fordham adding their voices in support of its quality. The ‘sold out’ sign seems to go up earlier each year as well. The L.T.C. seems to defy expectations and the low yielding vintage conditions in 2016 have produced a very similar wine to the 2015 with that intensity and concentration typical of good vintages. Lemon rind & zest combined with tropical fruit flavours all in balance with smooth texture and a long dry finish. We think it’s worth saying that the 2016 L.T.C. will age as gracefully as previous vintages.
