Paringa Estate 'Estate' Chardonnay 2017

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria   |    750ml   |    14.5%
Paringa Estate is one of the jewels of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula wine region, consistently making some of the nation's leading examples of Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay. This 2017 Paringa Estate Chardonnay is another complex, flavoursome and impeccably balanced example of Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay that will strengthen the reputation of this esteemed winery.

"The fruit for this wine was sourced from our “Estate” vineyard and Callanans Road vineyard in Red Hill South. 2017 was a later, cooler vintage with modest yields. It produced good quality fruit, with fine natural acidity. The fruit was handpicked, whole bunch pressed, and the unclarified juice was fermented in new and one year old French oak barriques and puncheons. Initially it was stirred monthly in barrel, to build weight and complexity. It did not go through malolactic fermentation." - Paringa Estate.

The 2012 vintage at Paringa Estate marked owner and winemaker Lindsay McCall’s 25th vintage. Those 25 vintages represent one of the more remarkable stories in the Australian wine industry. The first plantings took place in 1985, following the purchase of a derelict orchard on Paringa Road. During the first ten years, McCall remained a fulltime school teacher, making his first vintages in his garage.

Today Paringa Estate is one of the jewels of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula wine region, consistently making some of the nation's leading examples of Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay. Paringa Estate was named 'Winery Of The Year' by James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion 2007 Edition.

The current Paringa Estate winery was built in 1998, and houses an outstanding a la carte restaurant on the upper level. Paringa Estate owned/leased 55 acres (22 ha.) of vines and processed 220 tonnes of fruit which produced 16,000 cases of wine.
