Mr Mick Tempranillo

Mr Mick Tempranillo 2016

Clare Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    13.5%
"Mr Mick' is an enormously popular range of wines made by the highly acclaimed Tim Adams in South Australia's Clare Valley. Crafted in the approachable 'Mr Mick' style, the 2016 Mr Mick Tempranillo is a delicious red wine bursting with strawberries, redcurrant and cola flavours. With a subtle oak influence, soft tannins and lingering finish, this is a soft approachable red that offers super value drinking at this special price.

Review of the 2015 vintage below;

"And we’ve found ourselves a bargain. Clare Valley Tempranillo with all guns blazing, at a snip of a price. A snip, I tell you. It’s just an excellent wine to drink. You can see this being widely enjoyed. The flavour profile has a sweetness to it but it works. It tastes of redcurrant, cola, vanilla and wood spice, or thereabouts, but it’s fruit-driven and generous and just generally eager-to-please. There’s only enough tannin to give the tannin shape, which is apt in context. Love the fruit flesh here. Rated: 91 Points Tasted: Sep17 Alcohol: 13.5% Price: $17 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2017 - 2022" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

'Mr Mick' is a new range of wines launched by Tim Adams; one of Australia's most talented winemakers. The range is named in honour of K.H Knappstein; a legend of Australian wine and a former mentor of Tim Adams.

Mr Mick would have been extremely proud of this wine. Mirroring the central areas of Spain, which Tempranillo calls home, the warm dry growing conditions of the Clare Valley is the ideal climate to make this variety shine. Take it from us when we say this wine will go well with just about any food! Mr Mick enjoyed making wines for everyone to enjoy and this is just another one to add to the range!

Dry-grown Tempranillo, fermented for a week with its skins, was then gently pressed, with part of the pressings incorporated in this blend for added texture. The wine was then matured using French oak before bottling. It is suitable for drinking anytime from the present to ten years of age, and will complement many cuisines.
