Mr Mick Novo Sangiovese Malbec

Mr Mick Novo Sangiovese Malbec 2016

Clare Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    13%
The Mr Mick Novo Sangiovese Malbec is a relatively new addition to Tim's Adams Mr Mick range; designed to be an approachable, 'easy-going' red wine in the tradition of the 'Novo' (new) Italian style of Sangiovese. A lighter red in style, the 2016 Mr Mick Novo Sangiovese Malbec is bursting with juicy red berry fruit flavours and soft mellow tannins, which makes it versatile enough to enjoy at anytime of the year.

"Everyday value wines are mostly the domain of the large producers. However, there are many serious winemakers now playing with fun and funky styles - this Novo from Tim Adams is a perfect example. It's a canny blend of sprightly sangiovese with a smidgen of malbec adding structure and an earthy edge. The flavours live up to the Novo name, bright red berry fruits with acid playing an equal role to the mild-mannered tannins. Worthy of a light chill on a warm day" - Mike Bennie, Best Buy Wines $20 And Under, Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, June/ July 2018.

'Mr Mick' is a new range of wines launched by Tim Adams; one of Australia's most talented winemakers. The range is named in honour of K.H Knappstein; a legend of Australian wine and a former mentor of Tim Adams.

Mr Mick would have been extremely proud of this wine. Mirroring the central areas of Spain, which Tempranillo calls home, the warm dry growing conditions of the Clare Valley is the ideal climate to make this variety shine. Take it from us when we say this wine will go well with just about any food! Mr Mick enjoyed making wines for everyone to enjoy and this is just another one to add to the range!

Winemaking Notes: Dry-grown Sangiovese and Malbec, fermented in separate batches for a week on skins, was then gently pressed with part of the pressings incorporated in this blend for added texture. This wine has not been aged in oak, allowing maximum fruit expression.

Food Pairing: It is a wine best enjoyed anytime from the present to five years of age, and will complement many cuisines. The ‘Novo’ style is particularly suitable for enjoying on its own right throughout the year. Chill slightly for maximum enjoyment during summer.
