Grampians, Victoria   |    750ml   |    13.8%

Mount Langi Ghiran in the Grampians has long been regarded as one of Australia's leading cool-climate Shiraz makers, and their Cliff Edge Shiraz always punches well above its weight in the value for money stakes.

The 2015 Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz continues the outstanding recent form of this wine; delivering intense red and black cherry fruit flavours complimented by subtle oak, fine acidity and the pepper spice the region is famous for. The impressive length and balance makes it a standout Shiraz at this price that will appeal to the many fans of Mount Langi Ghiran.

"96 Points. Both bouquet and medium-bodied palate offer a tapestry of black fruits, spices and black pepper, tannins woventhrough the succulent, juicy black fruits. French oak there or thereabouts, and fine lingering tannins. Screwcap. 13.8% alc. To 2035. Special Value. $30"- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2018.

"It’s a sweeter fruit profile than we generally expect to see under this label, or from this estate, though it’s immaculately balanced and presented and has just-enough enough pepper-spice to keep lovers of this label happy. Spice notes though are certainly in shorter supply here than usual. Creamy mouthfeel, floral aspects, sweet raspberry and black cherry, perhaps just into plum. It’s a seductive wine, no doubt. Mount Langi Ghiran is certainly putting out excellent reds right now. Rated: 93 Points Tasted: Aug17 Alcohol: 13.8% Price: $32 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2018 - 2026+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of two mountain ranges, the vineyard property of Mount Langi Ghiran (Aboriginal for ‘home of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo’) combines state of the art technology with traditional winemaking methods. The governing principle at Mount Langi Ghiran is to preserve the vineyard’s longstanding dedicated commitment to quality by ensuring that cropping yields are kept low and that wines are produced using traditional winemaking practices with minimal intervention.
"The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The 2014 vintage provided good conditions for grape growing, with a dry and reasonably warm season. Due to a cold snap in spring the crops were low yielding resulting in high quality fruit with intense flavours and complexity. Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality." - Mount Langi Ghiran.
