As one of Australia's most popular and consistently best value red wines, Majella The Musician is a sensational example of the classic Aussie Cabernet Shiraz blend from South Australia's Coonawarra region.

The highly anticipated newly released 2017 Majella The Musician is another super impressive offering that has been a dominant performer on the Australian Wine Show circuit over the past couple of years, including a Gold Medal (96 Points) at the 2018 Royal Melbourne Wine Show.

Bursting with plenty of typical blackcurrant, raspberry, herb notes. Mouth-wateringly juicy and impressively approachable, this is another impressive release that will deliver plenty of drinking pleasure in the short to medium term.

"95 Points. A 70/30% blend fermented in stainless steel and oak barrels, then largely matured in stainless steel. It is a freakish wine that has been selling for around $17-18 since it was first released in '04 and has won 7 trophies and 79 medals to date. Its duty is to be fresh, fruit-driven and medium-bodied, the tannins incidental. And so it is. $18.00 Date when tasted: 30 Jan 2019 14% alc. Drink By: 2027 Screwcap" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

Based in the famous Coonawarra wine region in South Australia Majella Wines are regarded as one of the regions finest red wine makers.

Fourth generation Coonawarra farmers, George and Pat Lynn, established Majella in 1968. Fruit had been prominently sold to premium, local producers, but on the whole Majella now reserves the best parcels for their wines.

Located on the prime cigar strip of red earth in Coonawarra, Majella is know for its premium wines and vineyard sites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot are the hero grapes joined by little sister Riesling. The Malleea is the top flight wine; a traditional Cabernet Shiraz blend.

High tech winemaking equipment drives the winery, and the cellar door benefits from a Stephen Herbert (architect) designed space. The winery is functional and allows for pristine fruit and vibrant flavour to sing through.

Once again an exceptional wine at the price: vibrant, unmistakably Coonawarra to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, and fine, elegant and juicy in the mouth.

The wine is quite low in oak, with just a smidge of vanillin showing faintly on the mid palate, but otherwise the brambly, blackcurrant flavours demand all the attention.

Fine silky tannins integrate with the fruit and minimal oak treatment to produce an approachable well rounded wine with an extended length. Quite a complex wine!

Drink now, but it should age beautifully for 3 - 5 years
