Majella Musician Cabernet Shiraz

Majella The Musician Cabernet Shiraz 2016

Coonawarra, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14.5%

One of the Coonawarra region's leading wineries, Majella has been in fine form in recent years delivering some outstanding red wines. One of Australia's most popular and consistently best value red wines, Majella The Musician is a sensational example of the classic Aussie Cabernet Shiraz blend.

The 2016 vintage of Majella 'The Musician' is bursting with plenty of typical blackcurrant, raspberry, herb notes. Mouth-wateringly juicy and impressively approachable, this is another impressive release that will deliver plenty of drinking pleasure in the short to medium term.

"94 Points. A 70/ 30% blend, fermented in stainless steel and oak, matured for 6 months with minimal oak contact before blending. Great colour; one of life's sweet mysteries is keeping the price identical to that of the first release in '04. It is a joyous wine, revelling in its blend of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum fruit. Made with minimal oak contact, retaining maximum fruit freshness. 14.5% alc. Drink: 2026 Screwcap" - James Halliday,

Based in the famous Coonawarra wine region in South Australia Majella Wines are regarded as one of the regions finest red wine makers.

Fourth generation Coonawarra farmers, George and Pat Lynn, established Majella in 1968. Fruit had been prominently sold to premium, local producers, but on the whole Majella now reserves the best parcels for their wines.

Located on the prime cigar strip of red earth in Coonawarra, Majella is know for its premium wines and vineyard sites. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot are the hero grapes joined by little sister Riesling. The Malleea is the top flight wine; a traditional Cabernet Shiraz blend.

High tech winemaking equipment drives the winery, and the cellar door benefits from a Stephen Herbert (architect) designed space. The winery is functional and allows for pristine fruit and vibrant flavour to sing through.
South Australia
Once again an exceptional wine at the price: vibrant, unmistakably Coonawarra to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, and fine, elegant and juicy in the mouth.

The wine is quite low in oak, with just a smidge of vanillin showing faintly on the mid palate, but otherwise the brambly, blackcurrant flavours demand all the attention.

Fine silky tannins integrate with the fruit and minimal oak treatment to produce an approachable well rounded wine with an extended length. Quite a complex wine!

Drink now, but it should age beautifully for 3 - 5 years
