Longview Yakka Shiraz 2017

Adelaide Hills, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14.5%
Longview Yakka Shiraz has been a remarkably consistent performer over the past decade and become a favourite for those seeking a high quality Adelaide Hills Shiraz at a very reasonable price.

Matured for 15 months in old and new French barriques, the 2017 Longview Yakka Shiraz displays vibrant blue fruits, spice, flavours of dark chocolate and coffee. This elegant, cool-climate shiraz is medium bodied and finishes with delicious velvety texture. A Shiraz of impressive balance and length, this delivers the super value Shiraz we've come to expect from this wine.

"95 Points. A delicious Hills shiraz that drinks well young and has what it takes to cellar for quite a few years. There are chocolate, vanilla, blackberry aromas and the palate adds some meaty charcuterie notes while delivering power and concentration. A very smart shiraz" - Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Feb/ March 2020.

"92 Points. The Yakka vineyard has been a good performer over the years. Good heft this year. It almost makes it feel a little old school. Toast and vanilla characters, maybe even coffee-cream, melt into asphalt, black cherry and roasted plum. The smooth face of hearty. Firm with tannin too. A substantial red. Tasted: Nov19. 14% alc. $30 Screwcap Drink: 2020 - 2028+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Matured for 15 months in old and new French barriques, the wine displays vibrant blue fruits, spice, flavours of dark chocolate and coffee. This elegant, cool-climate shiraz is medium bodied, and finishes with a delicious vanillin length and velvety texture. Like the Yakka, it is dramatic and structured and will thrive in most occasions.

Our Yakka is as complex as the plant we’ve named it after and, whilst excellent to drink now, it will also benefit with 10+ years cellaring.
