Longview Kuhl Gruner Veltliner

Longview Kuhl Gruner Veltliner 2017

Adelaide Hills, South Australia   |    750ml   |    13%

95 Points - James Halliday

Gruner Veltliner continues to attract plenty of attention in Australia with Longview of the Adelaide Hills is one winery leading the charge. Recent vintages of Longview 'KUHL' Gruner Veltliner have proved enormously popular and the 2017 vintage is again a fine example of this native Austrian variety.

The 2017 Longview Kuhl Gruner Veltliner offers up plenty of subtle grapefruit, pear and earthy peppery notes on the nose, leading to a nice textured palate, with mineral characters, citrus note and excellent texture and depth. A white wine of excellent food appeal, we'd suggest seafood, spice Asian and pork dishes.

"95 Points. Crunchy, spicy, aromatic, even grainy; this wine can be appreciated from a number of different angles, but it's the body, the flow and sheer confidence it exudes that really sets it apart. This is a white wine of real presence. All things considered, the price is a steal. Screwcap. 13% alc. To 2021. $25" - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion 2019.

Longview is a stunning family owned Australian vineyard located just outside the historic township of Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. Set on undulating slopes reminiscent of classic old world estates, it has quickly established itself as one the most awarded vineyards in the region since its first vintage in 2001.

Longview is one of the first vineyards in Australia to plant Gruner Veltiliner.

KÜHL - the German word for cool - is named to reflect the cool-climate of the Adelaide Hills and Longview's progressive ethos.

A remarkably versatile variety, Gruner can be made young and light or rich and unctuous. Our KÜHL lands somewhere in the middle. Initial aromas of grapefruit and celery progress to a palate of spicy radish and golden delicious apple, with crunchy acidity and white pepper overtones.
