Longline Blood Knot Shiraz 2014

McLaren Vale, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14%
The Longline Blood Knot Shiraz has become a perennial favourite of ours; always delivering a perfumed yet structured South Australian Shiraz with grapes sourced from McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. The 2014 Longline Blood Knot Shiraz is another ripper; packed with bright red fruit flavours, spice notes and subtle pepper, this is a delicious Shiraz that is set to be another crowd favourite.

Review of the 2013 vintage of Longline Blood Knot Shiraz included below;

"96 Points. A synergistic 60/40% blend from McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills, the outcome very impressive, iron fist in velvet glove stuff. The beautifully presented black cherry, blackberry and spice fruits seem more closely linked to Adelaide Hills than McLaren Vale, but that's not worth debating given the sheer class, balance and length of the palate. A ridiculous bargain. Rating: Drink By: 2043 Price: $26.00 Date Tasted: 26 Mar 2015 Alcohol: 14%" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2016.

Longline wines started in 2012 by Paul and Martine Carpenter with the vision of producing wines that represent the best of McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. Fruit from vineyard sites selected from nearly two decades of walking vineyards in these two great regions. Their vineyard parcels come from growers who understand their sites and what it takes to grow outstanding fruit.

Their winemaking philosophy is simple; wines made honestly and simply that challenge but more importantly speak of their vineyard origin.

Paul has made wine for a range of highly respected wineries including Wirra Wirra Vineyards and Hardys Tintara, in McLaren Vale and internationally with Domaine de la Janasse in Chateauneuf- du- Pape, Archery Summit in Oregon and Chateau du Bluizard in Beaujolais. LongLine Wines was formed in 2012.

South Australia
McLaren Vale
Regions: Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale, and Hope Forest, Adelaide Hills.

Both mature Shiraz vineyards are dry grown with the Blewitt Springs adding McLaren Vale richness to the wine, albeit in the most fragrant and restrained of all McLaren Vale sub-regions, whilst the Adelaide Hills adding the natural acid and tight tannin focus.

The two hand-picked vineyard parcels were open fermented separately until dry on skins with one week extended skin contact on both parcels. Pressed to three and four year old French puncheons and demi muids for 11 months of oak maturation. Whole bunch inclusion into the ferments and extended lees contact were both used to add further complexity to two great vineyard sites.

The 2014 Blood Knot Shiraz was bottled in February 2015.

Great with slow roasted pork shoulder with roasted beets.

Enjoy now but will reward cellaring in appropriate conditions for 8+ years.
