Leeuwin Estate of Margaret River is one of Australia's leading Chardonnay makers with their Art Series Chardonnay widely considered the greatest white wine made in the country. Leeuwin Estate's Prelude Chardonnay has also established an enviable reputation for consistently delivering high quality Margaret River Chardonnay drinking at a very attractive price point.

The 2018 Leeuwin Prelude Chardonnay again delivers a top class Margaret River Chardonnay with the purity, finesse and length of flavour we've come to expect from Leeuwin Estate. The nose has energy with delicate complexity; floral aromas of jasmine, frangipani combine with the classical pear, lime and lemon fruit spectrum. Another ripping example of Prelude Chardonnay, this delivers extraordinary value-for-money drinking.

"96 Points. Leeuwin Estate has the game sewn up with this entry point wine. It's so precise, so balanced, so pure. The distinction between fruit and oak is impossible to gauge, the length magical. $35.00 13.5% alc. Drink By: 2030 Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

Leeuwin Estate is one of the founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district.

In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker, Robert Mondavi, first identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard as being ideal for the production of premium wine and provided early mentorship to Denis and Tricia Horgan who founded Leeuwin Estate in 1974. The initial vineyards were planted by hand over a five year period from 1975.

Featuring state-of-the art facilities, the winery building was opened in 1978, celebrating with a trial vintage. Leeuwin enjoyed its first commercial vintage in 1979, and was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1980 "Art Series" Chardonnay in an international blind tasting.

Maintaining a team of highly skilled and dedicated winemakers, Leeuwin Estate is now under the direction of two generations of the founding family.

The Prelude Vineyards label focuses on the benchmark varietals of the region and represent the first release Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon from Leeuwin Estate each vintage. They are site expressive wines that encase the purity and clarity of fruit with a style that is readily expressive for earlier release.

Heightened floral notes of jasmine, frangipani, chamomile and cardamom meet with the classical pear, lime and lemon fruit spectrum. The nose has energy with delicate complexity. Layers beneath the forefront include subtle oyster shell, brioche, nougat and almond shell. The palate is finely woven and lively. The clarity of fruit is highlighted with lime curd, pear and pink grapefruit. Throughout, the palate has great shape and texture; layers of cassia, clove and cashew create dimension within the primary fruit core. The structure is held quite tight with a fine acid line and mineral thread.
