Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    13.5%
Long considered one of the shining lights of the Margaret River regions, the overall quality of wine being produced at Leeuwin Estate is at a seemingly all time high. This 2014 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is another top-line example of Margaret River Cabernet, displaying vibrant fruit flavours of cherry, blackcurrant along with some bay leaf, anise and roast coffee. A wine of immense quality and character, worthy of a place in any cellar.

"96 Points. From the great 2014 vintage comes this largely cabernet-dominant wine using a small amount of malbec. Gorgeous perfumes of tobacco leaf, and a trace of distinctive varietal bay leaf. The palate is stunning, with a great fruit, oak and tannin balance. There are chalky tannins to build structure, yet the fruit sweetness is retained. An elegant and most stylish cabernet which is as good as any from Leeuwin" - Ray Jordan, July 2018, The West Australian.

"Another good Art Series cabernet. Indeed its quality is reliably high nowadays. Silken mouthfeel. Good fruit power. Ultra-fine tannin and impressive length. It’s not a big or burly cabernet but it impresses from the outset, and for all the right reasons. It’s creamy, chocolatey, curranty and varietal, its more herbal side tucked neatly within. Pure cabernet.Rated: 93+ Points Tasted: Aug18 Alcohol: 13.5% Price: $68 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2019 - 2026+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

A dark and dense nose of blue and blackberries dominate the nose, complimented by a lifted and fragrant aromatic profile. Perfumed violets amongst black cardamom, olive, anise, cloves and bay leaf provide subtle and classical layers. The palate has concentration, depth and poise set with a blackberry, cherry and mulberry fruit spectrum. Layers and contours unfold into cassia, cocoa and coffee beans through the mid palate. There is vibrancy and seamless structure given a finely laced acid line and gravelly tannins.

The “Art Series” represents Leeuwin’s most opulent & ageworthy wines from each vintage. They are identified with paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists.
