Leeuwin Art Series Shiraz 2016

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz 2016

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    14%
Leeuwin Estate has been in rare form lately, with a string of favourable vintages allowing it to produce some super example of Margaret River Shiraz under the 'Art Series' label. The Art Series Shiraz labels exclusively feature the artworks of Australia’s Aboriginal artists; the 2016 vintage features the work of Naomi Hobson, entitled 'Sweet Teatree Water'.

The 2016 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz is another impressive offering from the team at Leeuwin, which will certainly have enormous appeal to fans of Margaret River Shiraz. A myriad of cherries, mulberries and blood plums provide the framework on the nose, with camphor, cumin, anise, and toasted fennel seed in the background. The palate is fine with structural tannins and bright acidity. Again, cherries and mulberries are present with savoury oak char and subtle dark chocolate within.

"96/100. Interesting combination of predominantly shiraz plus five per cent malbec and a dollop of viognier. Aromas are quite beautiful, with cherry scents and a touch of floral apricot pith. One of the finest shiraz from Leeuwin, displaying complexity at another level. A hint of cracked pepper and licorice adds to the complexity. Outstanding." - Ray Jordan, The Weekend West Magazine, 20 April 2019.
