Kilikanoon Morts Block Watervale Riesling 2017

Kilikanoon Mort's Block Watervale Riesling 2017

Clare Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    12.5%

Kilikanoon is one of the shining lights of the Clare Valley, consistently producing leading examples of Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. This 2017 Kilikanoon 'Mort's Block' Watervale Riesling is another intensely focused and flavoured Clare Valley Riesling. Wonderfully perfumed this offers plenty of lemon, lime and apple flavours; the length and complexity make it a standout example either as a drink-now or cellar proposition.

"96 Points. Hand-picked, free-run juice cold-settled. The bouquet wastes no time in establishing the region, variety and quality of this single vineyard, multi-block riesling. The floral bouquet leads into a palate of striking intensity, texture and structure, lime and lemon both claiming ascendancy, neither winning. Price: $25.00 12.5% alc. Drink By: 2029 Closure: Screwcap"- James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

Hand selected parcels were chosen from across our famed Golden Hillside vineyards, including the original Mort’s Block Vineyard that started it all. 100% Watervale fruit, only minutes from the Kilikanoon winery.

Winemaking: Completely hand-picked, and taking free run juice only, coupled with the mild seasonal conditions has created a wine of tremendous elegance, varietal character and ageing potential.

Appearance: Pale straw in appearance with brilliant clarity and youthful green tints.

Nose: Lifted Riesling profile; lemon curd, hints of tropical fruits and freshly squeezed kaffir limes round out the nose.

Palate: Limes, citrus rind and subtle tropical nuances wrapped around a core of spine tingling acidity confidently define the cool 2017 vintage conditions. A potent and zesty finish completely frame the canvas of a wine destined to live long in the cellar.
