The Kangarilla Road winery was established by Helen and Kevin O'Brien in 1997 on a site with vineyards dating back to the 1970's. These mature vines allow Kangarilla Road to achieve the rich fruit flavours that are a trademark of McLaren Vale red wines.

The 2017 Kangarilla Road Shiraz is an aromatic McLaren Vale Shiraz offering delicate floral notes reminiscent of freesias together with enticing sweet red berry conserve and glimpses of geranium. The delicious palate is packed with red currants, black cherries, strawberries flavours, the elegant tannin profile provide support to this delicious drinking Shiraz.

Kangarilla Road Vineyard & Winery is based in McLaren Vale South Australia. It was established by Helen and Kevin O'Brien in 1997. Kangarilla Road is the main road running past the vineyard towards the small village of Kangarilla, the name a derivation of the Australian Aboriginal language and refers to the abundance of resources locally.

McLaren Vale is for us the best region in Australia to achieve the wine styles that we want to produce. This vineyard and winery - which was originally established back in 1975 - offers us 30 acres of mature vines that contribute rich fruit characters so typical of McLaren Vale.

Kevin O'Brien is an oenologist with 20 years experience in the wine industry. Helen O'Brien brings flair to Kangarilla Road and has extensive experience in the public relations, promotions and fashion industries.

The 2017 Kangarilla Road Shiraz is a sub-regional blend of several McLaren Vale vineyards. It was fermented in traditional open fermenters with heading board systems and in static open fermenters using gentle cap management techniques. Oak maturation was 16 months in 25% new French and American hogsheads, the balance aged in 1 to 4 year old barrels. The result is a powerful, flavoursome example of McLaren Vale Shiraz that displays the approachability to be enjoyed now.
