Ferngrove's flagship Cossack Riesling is one of the finest examples from Western Australia's acclaimed Riesling region of Frankland River. A single vineyard wine with grapes carefully selected from a specific block, the 2018 vintage provided perfect conditions for ripening and flavour development.

Offering lifted lime, citrus and blossom notes on the nose, this is a refined and impeccably structured Riesling with a steely, mineral spine supporting the vibrant lemon, lime and green apple notes,  A wine with an abundance of natural acidity, this is high quality Riesling with a long future ahead of it.

Currently being sold for $30 via Ferngrove's website, we're thrilled to offer limited stocks of this wine at the discounted price of $17.90 a bottle.

"95/100. This little vineyard at Ferngrove produces some of the finest riesling in the State. This is a stunner. Driving intensity of lemon zest and spices with a fine minerality. Has a beautiful acid line that strikes through to a very long finish. Has tremendous ageing potential. Best drinking: Now to 2030 Alc: 12.5%"- Ray Jordan, The Western Australian, November 2, 2018.

"Ferngrove’s Cossack is always one of the most articulate, textural and best value of Frankland River’s impressive collection of rieslings. Deeply scented with floral, lime and lemon notes, stone fruit and minerals, this stylish and shapely release unpacks a rich, round and linear presence of penetrative citrus and stone-fruit flavour supported by a gravelly spine that extends long and complete towards a brisk, dry and refreshing finish. It has at least a decade ahead."- Jeremy Oliver, Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, June/ July 2019.

In winemaking, time patience and consistent weather are precious commodities. Situated in the Great Southern wine region, 360 kilometres south of Perth, Ferngrove Wines is one of the world’s most isolated wine estates. While this isolation makes the logistics tough, it is also what makes Ferngrove wines distinctly different.

Selected in 1998 for its favourable viticultural location 90 kilometres from the coast, the Ferngrove valleys and slopes have the rare combination of rugged, classically West Australian ancient soils and the cooling influence of the converging Southern and Indian Oceans. This unique setting allows grapes to ripen at a slower rate, allowing the winemaking team the time to cultivate and nurture vines to their absolute best.

The remote location has fostered a pioneering spirit in the team at Ferngrove. The experienced team take pride in striving for winemaking excellence.

Celebrating 20 years, the Ferngrove story is one of deep respect for the land and the time and care involved in making outstanding wine which reflects from where it comes.
