The wines are made from estate grown grapes by two of the best winemakers in the Barossa. Christa Deans, regarded as the 'Queen of Eden Valley Riesling', has made the white wines since 2004, while the highly regarded Kym Teusner has been entrusted with the red wines since 2007.
The Eden Hall team embrace the philosophy of producing high quality grapes using eco-friendly, sustainable farming practices, that ensure long-term landscape and viticultural viability.
Thankfully, Mother Nature did not dish out any adverse events this year and harvest started in March with the whites, and finished on 19 April with the last of the Cabernet blocks. Yields were above average across the board, but quality was good, with Riesling a standout as usual.
2018 Springton Riesling tasting:
The 2018 Springton Riesling was carefully blended from 3 different blocks within the Avon Brae Vineyard. (48% Block 10 , 36% Block 11 and 16% Block 7). It is pale straw with a green hue and has a fragrant floral nose of Jasmine. The palate is broad with lime and lemon over guava, displays beautiful length and finishes like a tropical sorbet.
An outstanding Eden Valley Riesling from an exceptional vintage. Drinking well now, but like its predecessors is built to last.
