Clyde Park Vineyard was established in 1979 when the varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were planted on the property. Further plantings since have increased the vineyard to 35 acres, expanding the original Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and adding Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. In all we have 7 clones of Pinot Noir, 6 clones of Chardonnay, 2 clones of Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc and a sole clone of Pinot Gris.
The Clyde Park Locale range of wines are typically made from fruit sourced from regional Geelong. The wines are made with a minimalist approach ensuring optimum fruit intensity, flavour and structure. Locale wines deliver immediate satisfaction, yet will reward medium term cellaring.
The Clyde Park Locale Pinot Noir was fermented in small 2 Tonne batches at temperatures of 25-32 degrees. Portions of the different batches underwent natural and whole bunch fermentation. Subtle plunging to all ferments ensured a wine with delicacy, yet richness affording a wine of structure which finishes with softness and length.
Clyde Park has created this Pinot Noir from several different clones, which went through natural and whole bunch fermentation. Gentle pigeage was applied to all ferments which delivers a wine that is delicate, yet offering a richness and structure which has a silky, deep crimson red finish.
The Locale range of wines are made from fruit sourced from local regions of Geelong, and in most cases, from the subregion of the Moorabool Valley.
