Alkoomi Wines is one of the pioneering wineries of Western Australia's Frankland River; the world's most remote wine region that home to some seriously good wine.

This 2016 Alkoomi White Label Cabernet Merlot delivers everything you could ask for in a sub $20 Cabernet Merlot; medium-bodied and approachable with excellent depth of chocolate and cassis flavours, soft tannins and excellent all round drinkability. Always one of our most popular red wines, this is another great value Cabernet Merlot from Alkoomi.

"Matured for 12 months in French oak. A very well mannered, cool grown blend. The bouquet and medium-bodied palate are arranged around a generous core of varietal cassis fruit, with spice, dried bay leaf and a hint of oak-derived cigar box character that fits so well into the arrangements. 91/100 Alcohol: 14.5 % Drink By: 2029 Closure: Screwcap" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au

This wine was made with Frankland River fruit from several blocks, picked at optimal ripeness to give depth to the flavour profile. Harvested in the early hours of the morning, the fruit was cold soaked for three days prior to fermentation and then matured for 12 months with French oak to build complexity.

Vintage: A dry Winter and fleeting Spring was followed by a warm growing season with welcome rainfall in December and January leading to full, healthy canopies enabling excellent yields and great flavour development.

Colour: Deep crimson with ruby flecks

Palate: Rich flavours of cassis, blueberry and chocolate lead to a medium body with leafy, tobacco like layers and fine grained, supple tannins.

Cellaring: Ready to enjoy now, although will gain complexity over the next three to five years with careful cellaring.
