John and Eithne Lagan arrived at Margaret River in 1968, first planting their vineyard in 1977. The Lagans planted the first vines in what is now one of the region’s oldest vineyards. Xanadu has a long history of producing wines of distinction and today stands as one of Margaret River's finest wineries.
"Nose: The wine exhibits vibrant, characteristic aromas of ripe blackcurrants, berry fruits, and dark plums entwined with hints of spicy, toasty oak. Palate: The generous palate is packed full of juicy fruits of the forest, cassis and chocolate characters. Full bodied, the attractive fleshy fruits fit into a structure supported by supple tannins, a solid acid backbone and a persistent berry fruit finish. Cellaring Potential: Classic Margaret River Cabernet; whilst drinking well in its youth, the 2009 Next of Kin Cabernet Sauvignon will gain further complexity with bottle maturation, and will certainly reward with medium term cellaring over next 3-5 years." - Xanadu Wines.
