Last stocks, 2007 vintage due early July 2010.
The Dead Arm has firmly established itself as one of Australia's finest red wines. As always The Dead Arm delivers an exceptional McLaren Vale Shiraz; a dark, firm wine that is outstandingly balanced and complex. The 2006 vintage displays a touch for more elegance than recent vintages.
"95 Points. The Dead Arm rarely fails to deliver an uncompromising essay on McLaren Vale fruit; deeply concentrated with levels of dark chocolate, blackberry, nuances of florals and a freshness that belies its weight and power. Good value. Screwcap. To 2030" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2009 Edition.
"95 Points. I wouldn't be calling it light-ish but yep, I like this vintage a great deal too. I reckon it's thick with flavour but it's smooth and even and, in its style, delicious. I like the call on ‘chicory' - with a spot of coffee attached. Thick, luscious, smooth-skinned blackberry and blueberry with creamy, cedary, toasty oak coming hand-in-glove. Eve, structured, silken finish - it's as good as any Dead Arm Shiraz that I've tasted" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
“A very dark, vibrant, polished appearance with a dense red crimson hue. The aroma upon opening is surprisingly elegant showing superb fruit characters dominated with red fruits, plum, spices, red cherries, cranberry, white and green pepper and blueberry notes against a back drop of very fine oak. The flavours are ripe; red fruits, cherries, plums and black olives with edges of dried garden herbs. As the wine opens the palate is extremely tight and controlled. In many ways this wine is more elegant than previous vintages with tannins that have a wonderful mineral grittiness that is balanced right to the wine’s pointed finish. This wine shows a great potential to age” – Chester Osborn, Winemaker.
