Stella Bella Semillon Sauvignon Blanc

Stella Bella Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    13%

95 Points - James Halliday

Over the past decade Stella Bella has established itself as one of the shining lights of Margaret River wine, always delivering top-line examples of Margaret River's signature varieties. This 2015 Stella Bella Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is another impressive release with a creamy, rounded mouthfeel, intense lemon, lime and tropical fruit flavours, and a long, dry and balanced finish. A classy white wine with a level of complexity rarely associated with this blend.

"95 Points. The grass, green pea and lemon signature of Margaret River semillon comes through on the bouquet, but is blown away by the sedcutive array of tropical fruits on the palate, with gooseberry, guava and cream notes (is there a touch of barrel ferment?). Screwcap. 13% alc. To 2018. $24" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2017.

"I like it when the Semillon leads in these blends. This is beautifully put together. It has quince, lime and tomato bush flavours, along with a little vanilla and nectarine. Acidity and texture is flinty, but softened by the creaminess and softness of a little barrel work. Finish is good. Nicely done. Rated: 92 Points Tasted: Jan16 Alcohol: 13% Price: $24 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2016 - 2019+" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

"Stella Bella’s semillon and sauvignon blanc blend brings together fruit components from many parts of Margaret River. The winemaker aims to preserve the vibrant, fresh character of each variety by fermenting most of the components at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. They then weave in greater depth of flavour and texture by fermenting about one third of the wine “in a combination of new and older oak”. However, the pungent, herbaceous fruit character of the two varieties remains at centre stage, making this a wine to enjoy young and fresh." - Chris Shanahan,

Western Australia
Margaret River
The temperate maritime region that is Margaret River stretches 100km north to south. Subtle climatic changes and soil diversity along this substantial stretch of coastal land allows for an extensive array of varietal expression in both semillon and sauvignon Blanc. It is the region’s climatic ability to fully ripen Semillon that sets this wine apart. From this treasure trove of choice Margaret River’s signature blend has evolved.

Aroma: The bouquet is opulent and intense with the beautiful ripe semillon characters of white nectarine and nashi pear. This is supported by lemon curd and flinty aromatics with a savoury yet subtle biscuit character from fermentation and lees stirring.

Palate: The intensity of flavour and fruit ripeness of the semillon finishes with lemon and lime blossom and a sherbety acidity. Medium bodied and nicely weighted in the mouth, the palate is round and textural, the mid palate has the flesh and generosity of semillon with sauvignon blanc providing aromatics.

Blend: 63% Semillon and 37% Sauvignon Blanc.

Food: The quintessential pairing of freshly caught and pan fried King George Whiting with Margaret River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is perfect as always!
