Krinklewood Shiraz 2010

Krinklewood Basket Press Shiraz 2010

Hunter Valley, New South Wales   |    750ml   |    13.9%
Krinklewood Vineyard owners Rod & Suzanne Windrim first planted wine grapes in the Hunter Valley in 1981. In 1997, their Hunter Valley vineyard size was increased to 48 acres on a picturesque property in the Broke-Fordwich region. Rod and Suzanne begain their biodynamic journey in 2000 when the started using biodynamic viticultural practice at Krimklewood. They have produced biodynamic organic wine thereafter and are now fully certified biodynamic organic.

The 2010 Krinklewood Basket Press Shiraz is bright red with a purple hue , this wine is packed with herb and spice savoury notes, and a touch of cinnamon. It has ripe cherry, plum and berry flavours balanced with subtel well intergrated French oak. It is a lovely smooth Rhone-style Shiraz with cool bright acidity on the finish.

Reviews of the 2009 Krinklewood Shiraz below;

"Biodynamic shiraz from the Hunter Valley; a combination of words you don’t hear overly often. Maybe this lacks some oomph but it’s a wine of sure-footed style. It’s easy to admire. Plums, cherries, earth and polished, smoky oak. Excellent combination. Feels fresh and pure and clean. Feels lively. Refreshing acidity plays a keen part. Classy. Rated : 91 Points Alcohol: 13.9% Price: $40 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2013 - 2017+"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

"Good hue, of medium depth; aromas of leather and earth are manifestly regional, the medium-bodied palate likewise; had the misfortune to be tasted after a 15.5% Heathcote pressings shiraz, but is elegant and well balanced. 90 Points. Drink By: 2017 Price: $40.00 Date Tasted: 29 Dec 2010 Alcohol: 13.9%" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au

Region: Broke Fordwich, Lower Hunter Valley, NSW Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz Oak Maturation: 15months Release Date: December 2010 Cellaring Potential: up to 10 years Alcohol: 13.9 % We believe 2009 will join the ‘best vintage’ list for Krinklewood with consistent warm temperatures throughout the growing season. Though volumes are low, the colour and intensity of our shiraz fruit continues to impress. We believe that the Krinklewood vines are now reaping the benefits of the biodynamic practices, and the intense characteristics displayed in this vintage are the clear results of Rod Windrims persistence. Rich cherry red in colour & medium bodied, this vintage has Tobacco and dried spices are layered over pristine flavours of blackcurrant and cherries. It has an elegant, long finish." - Krinklewood Wines.
