Goaty Hill Pinot Noir 2012

Tamar Valley, Tasmania   |    750ml   |    13.4%
Goaty Hill Wines is located in the picturesque West Tamar region north of Launceston. As the vineyard has now reached its full potential, partners in Goaty Hill Wines decided to launch a wine label that encapsulated their passion for quality and enjoyment of fine Tasmanian wine. In considering a name for their label, partners turned to their vineyard for inspiration.

Despite a challenging vintage, the team at Goaty Hill have once again delivered the goods with the newly released 2011 Goaty Hill Pinot Noir. This could easily be mistaken as Burgundian in a blind tasting; delicate raspberry/strawberry and spice elements drive the light bodied but superbly balanced palate. A high quality wines that underlines how good Tasmanian Pinot Noir can be.

Reviews of the 2010 Goaty Hill Pinot Noir included below;

"94 Points. Mid-garnet, bright; a ripe and spicy bouquet of black cherry, plum and clove; the palate is generous, with red fruits piercing the palate, and fine tannins showing elegantly on the generous finish. Drink By: 2015 Alcohol: 13.4%" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2013 Edition.

"If people look like their dags, do wines resemble their makers? Perhaps that is why this is such a warm and friendly pinot. It is a mid-weight style with lots of bright flavours. A touch of sappiness with spice and good acidity. Elegant, vibrant and just delicious. It's a pinot with a future"- Ken Gargett, Gourmet Traveller Wine, December 2011.

"4.5/ 5. From the Tamar Valley near Launceston, this reminds me of, dare I say it, pinot from Central Otago - only it’s much more affordable. Dark fruit aromas and plush flavours of plum, dark cherry, beetroot, cinnamon and toasty oak are beautifully matched with a silky texutre and soft, ever-so-slightly grippy tannins. It finishes with savoury red fruit flavours and manages to find the right balance between opulence and elegance. (Tasmania) $33.95; 13.4%" - Ben Thomas, theweeklyreview.com.au

Colour: Light cherry red with vibrant hues on the edges.

Nose: This wine has a powerful immediate nose with strong hints of raspberry/strawberries.

Palate: Delicate raspberry/strawberry and spice elements drive the light bodied but balanced palate. Beautiful French oak (10 months) together with positive tannins make this wine very Burgundian in style.- Goaty Hill Wines.
