Last year The Observer Magazine UK named Tim Adams 'Winery Of The Year' describing his wines as "consistently great". Somewhat remarkably, Tim Adams has still managed to maintain a relatively low profile in Australia, whilst continuing to produce some of the Clare Valley's finest wines. Whilst we have been enjoying plenty of this 2009 Tim Adams Riesling recently, it certainly has the structure to cellar beyond the next five years.
"96 Points. The big man has nailed it in 2009 with this intense, exciting riesling. Superb spicy and exotic nose that shows impressive focus and diamond-like clarity - it makes a very precise impression with mineral flecks. The palate is superbly crafted with musky floral estery flavour, then citrus all the way through to the fine, precise finish. Elegant and pure. Drink: 2013" - Nick Stock, The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010.
"95 Points. Sophisticated winemaking (starting with early harvesting) has resulted in a superbly pure and focused wine, with the structure to blossom with age, built on a foundation of minerally acidity. Screwcap. 11% alc. Drink 2020 $22 Date Tasted Sep 09" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2011 Edition.
"95 Points. A marvelously well balanced, focused and leaner expression of Clare Valley riesling packed with fruit and flavour. Its heady floral perfume scented with lime, lemon, apple and pear precedes a vibrant and enticing palate of excellent length and brightness. Underpinned by the finest of phenolics, it’s very fresh and dry, with a persistent core of fruit tightly punctuated by zesty lime juice acids. Outrageously cheap. Drink 2021-2029" - Jeremy Oliver, jeremyoliver.com.au.
"The use of only the very best 500 litres per tonne of grapes has resulted in this wine being very intensely flavoured and aromatic. The wine has very lifted riesling character with citrus aromatics of lime, lemon and grapefruit. The palate is seamless with moderate viscosity and brisk acid finish. Use as an aperitif or with any seafood. Riesling wines from Clare Valley are most enjoyable when young and zesty, or left to mature beyond five years of age. This wine has been sealed with Stelvin capsules to ensure its freshness and authenticity." - Tim Adams.
