The Thompson vineyard was planted in 1994 by cardiologist Peter Thompson, with the aim of developing a winery to arrival the icon status of its Wilyabrup neighbours. The Thompson family has a long involvement with the pioneers of the Margaret River wine industry, including part ownership of the Pierro and Fire Gully Margaret River vineyards. Some 16 years later, Thompson Estate has established itself as one of the shining lights of Margaret River with consistently exceptional wines.
