"97 Points. A warm, dry Frankland River season has produced a dark, assertive, deeply spiced and savoury wine with a heady bouquet suggestive of Côte-Rôtie but a palate structure and strength more reminiscent of Cornas. It's quite rustic and funky, with a peppery presence of blackberries, blueberries and cassis tightly knit with dusty vanilla oak, but has the stability and balance to cellar with complete confidence. Underpinned by firm, bony tannins, it's supple and fleshy, with a long, pleasingly weighted and savoury palate finishing with a lingering core of licorice-like fruit and meatiness. (19.2/97, drink 2015-2019)" - Jeremy Oliver, jeremyoliver.com.au.
"Bright colour; highly fragrant with dark chocolate, raspberry and a touch of spice on display; the oak comes through on the palate, with juicy black fruits and ample gravelly tannins on the finish. Frankland River. Screwcap.14.5% alc. Rating 93 Drink 2016 $65 Date Tasted Mar 09" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010 Edition.
"A dense dark wine, it displays lifted black fruit aromas with spicy plum pudding characters and complemented by hints of clove and anise. Spice and pepper notes persist on the palate to give this wine its signature character. The tannins are mouth filling and fine, the finish, complex and silky." - Notes from Larry Cherubino.
