Port Phillip Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Port Phillip Estate Sauvignon 2012

Port Phillip Estate Sauvignon 2012

Mornington Peninsula, Victoria   |    750ml   |    13%
Port Phillip Estate is regarded as one of Victoria's leading producers of Sauvignon Blanc. The newly released 2012 Port Phillip Estate Sauvignon continues the outstanding form of recent vintage of this wine.

"Bright pale straw colour. A nose of apple blossom, lemon citrus, crushed nettle and fresh grass lead into a palate with bright, crunchy granny smith apple flavours, grassy mouth aromas, medium weight and an underpinning mineral line. Approachable, fresh and cheerful. - Port Phillip Estate.

Reviews of the 2011 Port Phillip Estate Sauvignon Blanc included below;

"This quietly complex, pale Mornington Peninsula sauvignon blanc shows how skilfully applied barrel influence and winemaking art add dimension to an oft-maligned variety. Juicy lime, herb, almondy lees and earthy oak aromas lead into a savoury, chalky-dry mouthful of lovely seamless flow, finishing lingering and fragrant. 4 1/2 stars $$" - Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age Epicure, May 24, 2011.
2012 Winery Of The Year - James Halliday

Port Phillip Estate was established in 1987 on a property of sixty acres in Red Hill in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula. The maritime climate and southerly latitude of the Mornington Peninsula combined with the estate's deep red loam soils are considered ideal for cool climate viticulture. Port Phillip Estate is regarded as one of Victoria's leading producers of Sauvignon Blanc, and the newly 2011 vintage is one of their finest.

The Port Phillip Estate vineyard is located on the Mornington Peninsula at Red Hill, on Eocene volcanic soils. Our wines are made from domain grown, handpicked grapes and aim to manifest terroir: the integration of our geology and soils with the macroclimate of our region, the mesoclimates of the various sites within our vineyard and the weather of the annual grape growing season. Our cultural operations in the vineyard and practices in the winery endeavour to articulate these unique characteristics diligently, respectfully and without artifice.
