Mr Mick Riesling 2013

Clare Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    10.5%
Mr Mick' is a relatively new range of wines launched by Tim Adams; one of Australia's most talented winemakers. The range is named in honour of K.H Knappstein; a legend of Australian wine and a former mentor of Tim Adams.

In the late 1960’s, under Mr Mick’s guidance, Leasingham began production of Bin 5 Riesling. The wine was rich in the mid palate, with lowish levels of residual sugar and acidity. Tim Adams' 'Mr Mick' Riesling revives the intent of the Bin 5; a Riesling for all people, all occasions and a wide range of cuisines.

This 2013 Mr Mick Riesling is made in a classic Australian style; packed with lime, orange blossom and lemon curd flavours, this has just a subtle touch of sweetness to balance the crisp natural acidity. A superb Clare Riesling that offers incredible value drinking.

"93 Points. Light straw-green; a precisely crafted Riesling with a delicately perfumed bouquet of citrus blossom; finely detailed and balanced lemon and lime fruit on the palate, then a long, lingering finish. Ridiculously good value. Screwcap. 12% alc. To 2020" - James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2015 Edition.

"90/100. Great value Clare Valley riesling with an aromatic nose of sweet floral perfumes, lime and spice. It tastes clean with juicy citrus fruit, a whisper of cinnamon spice and a dry, relatively soft finish. (Screw cap; 12 per cent alcohol.) Value Fantastic. Ageing? Drink over two years." - Ralph Kyte-Powell, goodfood.com.au.

This wine is made from Riesling grapes harvested at their peak flavour maturity from various vineyards within the Clare Valley. Some of the vines were planted as early as 1980. The juice was immediately separated from skins then cold settled and fermented for 14 days. Careful blending ensures continuation of the true Mr Mick style. It is a great wine just to sit, sip and enjoy, or try it with any South Aussie seafood.

This wine has lemon curd, lime and orange blossom aromas and flavours, made in the classic Australian style with just a touch of fruit sweetness to balance the crisp natural acidity. It is a pristine wine with generous length of flavour.
