Leeuwin Estate has been in rare form lately with a string of favourable vintages allowing it to produce some wonderful examples of Margaret River Shiraz under the 'Art Series' label.
The 2021 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Shiraz is fragrant and perfumed highlighted by violets and rose petal notes. Layered, luscious and concentrated, the palate delivers plenty of primary fruit flavours of blueberries and mulberries, with plenty of vibrancy and natural acidity through to the long, balanced finish. Another top-line Margaret River Shiraz from Leeuwin Estate that is sure to have plenty of admirers.
"95 Points. How easily we forget the glories of Margaret River Shiraz, so often overshadowed by its more noble sibling, Cabernet. Wines like this certainly remind us of the error of our ways. Crimson/garnet, there are notes of spices, red fruits, dry herbs, redcurrants, soy, warm earth, truffles and cherries. A beautifully fragrant, elegant and finely crafted Shiraz. Very fine tannins, though plenty of them, with that hint of graphite that seems typical of the region. Excellent length, this should drink well for the next six to ten years. Love it, and not just one of the very best Leeuwin Shiraz I have seen, but one of the best from Margaret River. Drink: 2023 - 2033"- Ken Gargett, winepilot.com
