The Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz has been one of the most popular wines we've offered over the past few years, always offering plenty of bang for buck. The newly released 2011 vintage is another superb example of Eden Valley Shiraz; dark in colour it has some delicious, juicy black fruits dominating the palate with a power and approachability that is such a feature of Eden Valley Shiraz.

"A striking value red whose quality and price needed a double take. I haven’t seen this wine before, so I don’t know if it’s a freak, but it’s hard to forget. Not a beast, but rather a stylish, lithe, persistent and remarkably long-tasting red. A very good, more normal vintage in the Eden Valley has presented typical fruit characters of raspberry, cherry and mocha, which obviously really skillful and educated winemaking have shaped and seasoned a little with older, pre-used oak to leave a natural and bright looking wine. It’s no good trying to find faults or shortcomings in this; they’re just not there. That length reveals only gentle and persistently delicious flavours and a nice little grip. "Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz has been a stand-out performer - given its reasonable price - in recent years. This release is a lovely drink, no doubting it. It’s fleshy and dark berried and yet bright with flavour. Blueberries and mineral, tar and blackberry. It’s almost a touch beery and almost peppery too - but not quite either.
