Bird In Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir 2011
In 1997, an unassuming young viticulturalist and winemaker, Andrew Nugent, chanced his arm in the emerging wine region of the Adelaide Hills. Andrew grew up next door to Penfolds at Magill and his formative wine years were spent in South Australia’s McLaren Vale. It was here that he honed his craft as a viticulturalist, vineyard manager and winemaker. In 1997, Andrew Nugent planted vineyards and an olive grove on 100 acres on Bird in Hand Road, Woodside. The road itself was named after the "Bird in Hand" gold mine that operated in the district in the 1850's.

'Made from 100% Adelaide Hills grown Pinot Noir and harvested during the cool of night to maintain quality. Each parcel of grapes is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks to maintain the fresh lively characteristics true to Pinot Noir. The final blend is put through secondary fermentation and finished with the tiny addition of a special liqueur. This Sparkling has lifted strawberry and cherry aromas with a beautiful pink tone from skin contact. The floral lift is clean and vibrant. The fruit sweetness is balanced by crisp acidity and a long, clean finish. The perfect pre dinner or celebratory drink. Enjoy chilled and whilst young.' - Bird In Hand Wines.
