Hay Shed Hill Pitchfork Cabernet Merlot 2010

Hay Shed Hill Pitchfork Cabernet Merlot

Pitchfork Cabernet Merlot 2010

Margaret River, Western Australia   |    750ml   |    14.3%
The Pitchfork wines are made at Hay Shed Hill by the highly regarded Michael Kerrigan. These wines consistently deliver some of the best value drinking to be found in Margaret River. This is a standout of the current Pitchfork offering, providing a fresh, flavoursome blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Review of the 2009 vintage below;

"94 Points. Pitchfork is Hay Shed Hill's second label, but the skill of Michael Kerrigan means you don't realise that if you simply taste the wine without investigating its antecedents. The fragrant red fuit bouquet has herbaceous rolled-leaf and cedar notes, the palate is lively and accessible, with plenty of stuffing providing a classic Margaret River ridge. This is outstanding value for such quality, its controlled alcohol giving you the best of both worlds for consumption now or later - say 7 years. 14.3% alc." - James Halliday, 1001 Wines Under $20.

"This traditional blend of the two classic grape varieties is designed to produce a wine with a complete palate profile. Cabernet Sauvignon is the structurally strongest variety with good flavour in the early and late part of the taste spectrum backed up by fine tannin. Merlot has less flavour persistence than Cabernet Sauvignon but has wonderful mid palate fleshiness giving a sweet fruit centre to the wine. The grapes were sourced from Margaret River; the premier grape producing region of Western Australia." - Michael Kerrigan, Hay Shed Hill Wines.
