Mr Mick Shiraz 2009

Clare Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14%
Mr Mick' is a new range of wines launched by Tim Adams; one of Australia's most talented winemakers. The range is named in honour of K.H Knappstein; a legend of Australian wine and a former mentor of Tim Adams.

"Mr Mick’s favourite red variety was without doubt, Shiraz. From his early days working in the vineyards to the end of his amazing career 57 years later, wines made from Clare Valley Shiraz captivated him with their power and elegant synergism. This wine seeks to emulate just that style, elegant and yet dense and flavoursome, gentle enough to sit and taste, and great with food." - Tim Adams.

"Tim Adams now owns the Leasingham winery (but not the Leasingham brand) and has launched the Mr Mick brand as a result. Mr Mick refers to Mick Knappstein, who worked 57 vintages in the Clare Valley. A young Tim Adams was Mick Knappstein’s “last apprentice” … way back in 1975. It’s a pity Tim Adams couldn’t take over the Leasingham brand name as well, but the Mr Mick brand name is a fine idea in itself. This is a sweet-fruited, crowd-pleasing expression of Clare Valley shiraz. Cedarwood, violets, blackberries and ripe, polished, fleshy plums. An attractive woodsmoke character gives the wine added dimension. It’s medium-bodied and not especially persistent, but for $15 - it’ll do just nicely. Well worth a shot. Rated: 88 Points Alcohol: 14% Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2011 - 2015" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
