The Lake Breeze 'Bernoota' is undoubtedly one of Australia's most loved red wines. A classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, 'Bernoota' is a 'go to' wine for many seeking a great value, flavoursome red wine.

Always one of our most popular red wines, the newly released 2012 Lake Breeze Bernoota will not disappoint the loyal legion of followers this wine has accumulated over the past decade. A star performer at the recent 2014 Langhorne Creek Wine Show (Gold Medal), the 2012 Bernoota is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon carefully selected from old vines on the Follet family vineyard.

Packed with blackberry, plum and chocolate flavours, the palate delivers the generosity and trademark fruit sweetness that has made this such a popular red over the decade. One of the best Bernootas we can remember this is a sensational buy at the special price of $19.90 a bottle.

"93+ Points. Grown on 40 year old vines. Gold medal winner at the 2014 Langhorne Creek Wine Show. 60% shiraz, 40% cabernet sauvignon. Slightly less new oak than used for previous vintages. If you’ve been known to enjoy a bottle of Lake Breeze’s famed Bernoota red, then you will love this. It’s a classic example of the label. Balanced, bountifully-fruited, slapped with sexy vanillin/ coffeed/ musky oak but, importantly, beautifully well balanced. Tickled with fine tannin through the finished. Spot on example of the style. Alcohol: 14.5%. Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2015 - 2025"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Lake Breeze is one of Australia's most awarded boutique wineries, including being named Australia's Champion Small Winery. The Follett family have been grape growers in Langhorne Creek for over 120 years and winemakers for 24 years and have rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines.

The Follett family vineyard was established in the 1880's by Arthur John Follett, the great grandfather of Greg Follett, the winemaker. The varieties grown on the vineyard include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay, with small blocks of Grenache, Merlot, Petit Verdot and White Frontignac.

Langhorne Creek
‘Bernoota’ was the original name given to the homestead on the Lake Breeze property - it is an Aboriginal name for ‘camp among the gum trees’.

The 2012 ‘Bernoota’ is a blend of Shiraz (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), carefully selected from old vines on the Follett family vineyard.

The wine was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for 7-10 days, followed by maturation for 20 months in American and French oak barriques. The wine shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of choc mint and smoky oak aromas. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins. Although extremely palatable now, it will mature gracefully with correct cellaring for the next 8-10 years.
