Lake Breeze Bernoota Shiraz Cabernet 2010

Langhorne Creek, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14.5%
Lake Breeze is one of Australia’s leading small wineries with an enviable reputation for producing outstanding wines. A classic Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, Lake Breeze 'Bernoota' is consistently rated one of the best value reds around. The newly released 2010 Lake Breeze Bernoota is once again in fine form having received a gold medal at the 2012 Perth Royal Wine Show.

92 Points. Is Lake Breeze Bernoota - a blend of 70% shiraz with 30% cabernet sauvignon - as reliable as ever? Yes it is. Creamy oak, a rich and velvety ooze of curranty fruit, redcurrant and the merest slip of mint. It’s not rocket science but it’s good value and good hearty drinking. Weight of flavour and texture are the keys here. As they always have been. You can bank on this. Alcohol: 14.5% Price: $20 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2014 - 2019+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

Lake Breeze is one of Australia's most awarded boutique wineries, including being named Australia's Champion Small Winery. The Follett family have been grape growers in Langhorne Creek for over 120 years and winemakers for 24 years and have rapidly built an enviable reputation for consistently producing outstanding wines.

The Follett family vineyard was established in the 1880's by Arthur John Follett, the great grandfather of Greg Follett, the winemaker. The varieties grown on the vineyard include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay, with small blocks of Grenache, Merlot, Petit Verdot and White Frontignac.

The 2010 ‘Bernoota’ is a blend of Shiraz (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), carefully selected from old vines on the Follett family vineyard.

The wine was fermented on skins in open static fermenters for 7-10 days, followed by maturation for 20 months in American and French oak barriques. The wine shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of choc mint and smoky oak aromas. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins. Although extremely palatable now, it will mature gracefully with correct cellaring for the next 8-10 years
