Hewitson Ned & Henrys Shiraz Mouvedre 2013

Barossa Valley, South Australia   |    750ml   |    14%
Hewitson's 'Ned & Henry's' Shiraz Mouvedre is one of Australia's most consistently good value red wines; always delivering an approachable and flavoursome Barossa blend of Shiraz and Mouvedre.

Juicy and silky this newly released 2013 vintage is bursting with blackberry, plum and savoury spice flavours, with great balance and smooth, ripe tannins - the ideal red for enjoying with barbequed meats over Summer.

Review of the 2012 vintage included below;

"Blackfruit and mocha, though it’s not particularly oaky I hasten to add, earth, orange peel and spicy bits. Medium bodied, nicely pitched wine with some hazelnut and raspberry, glossy texture, fine tannin and juicy acidity. Pretty good. Pulls a little bitter on the finish. Likely to improve with a little more time in bottle. Rated: 91 Points Alcohol: 14% Price: $28 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2014 - 2020" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.

"A very good friend of mine challenged me to produce a traditional, full-bodied Barossa Valley wine with the only criteria that it could be drunk young at lunch or dinner and did not stray from my fundamental wine making philosophies i.e. French oak, fine grained tannins, balance, clear fruit expression etc! Those who know me well know that I just love a good challenge! Thus Ned & Henry's Barossa Valley was born" - Dean Hewitson.

Hewitson was founded in 1998 by winemaker Dean Hewitson's driving passion to produce uniquely expressive wines from the great vineyards of South Australia's famous wine regions. These regions are the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. They are home to some of Australia's, and indeed the world's, oldest and most treasured vineyards, many of them planted pre-phylloxera and more closely linked to the original vines of Europe than anywhere else in the world.
