Newly released vintage of Ingram Road Chardonnay by Helens Hill. Reviews of the 2011 vintage included below;

"Ingram Road is the second label of Helen’s Hill Estate, which has a sizeable vineyard, winery and restaurant in the Coldstream area. I’ve found the white wines to be particularly good. This inexpensive chardonnay, from a standout vintage, is great value for money and, being uncluttered by oak and artefact, makes great summer drinking. It tastes unwooded and positively sings with brightness and energy. Youthful light-yellow in hue, it has fresh cashew and almond aromas, with passionfruit and grapefruit touches. It’s very youthful, clean and restrained on the tongue; light and tight with very modest alcohol and great drinkability. (...)." - Huon Hooke, Sydney Morning Herald, Dec 2012.

"93 Points. This is the estate-grown and made second label of Helen's Hill Estate, home to an excellent restaurant open Thursday through Sunday for lunch and dinner and set on a typically beautiful Yarra Valley site. Grapes are hand-picked, pressed and taken directly to French oak for wild yeast fermentation, followed by extensive lees stirring (battonage). The result is a delicious and vivacious wine, with just the right flavour balance between grapefruit and white-fleshed stone fruit, the finish long and clean, the acidity precisely judged, oak discreetly in the background. A very good vintage. The wine is an each-way proposition: now or in 5 years. Drink By: 2016 Date Tasted: 09 Jun 2011 Alcohol: 12.3%" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.

"Long have we heard the cry ABC (anything but Chardonnay). This acronym came about due to the fact that many Australian Chardonnays in the late 90's were made from over ripe fruit, with lashings of malolactic fermentation which resulted in wines that resembled Golden Syrup. As Don King once said, “the past is where I want it to be, in my past.” - Helens Hill Wines.
